What does your pet do when it is bored?
My last dog was an outdoor dog and nothing extraordinary has stayed in my memory apart from the "pigs' ears" found deep under the soil in the flower beds. Looking back he was a super dog, always so cheerful and friendly; he was not in the habit of digging caves in the vegetable garden, terrorising passers by, roaming around the village or barking pointlessly.
My earlier dogs were a city person's dogs, that is flat dogs. They certainly suffered often from boredom between four walls and got up to a fair bit.
My present pets are hens. They must never be bored or crowded, because then there is trouble in the house and they start brutally hurting one another. Online you can find all kinds of pictures and videos where hens have been given swings, percussion instruments or whatever toys to keep them busy. Simpler ways to chase off the winter boredom of the beaked ones are cabbages and swedes hung on a rope, which they can peck at and chase for amusement.
But what if your pet is a horse and it is bored after training? I do not have a horse, but my child does, and recently we had to mend a whole pile of horse rugs together again. Because that friend likes to practise, in his free moments, wriggling out of his rug by himself, or simply chewing the corners of the rugs or the clips or the cords and straps to bits or tearing them into ribbons.
If you ask what a horse rug is and why there has to be a whole pile of them, then by way of explanation here is my daughter's note about the pictures (the picture shows the rugs most recently in for repair):
The bottom one is the stable rug, that is worn in the box in cold weather. The next three are rain rugs for going out in the paddock, one with a neck piece and two without, that is for more normal cool weather. Then three fleece rugs, used after training so that the horse dries and cools down before the stable rug goes on.

Right then, now we are all a little wiser than before, unless you are a horse person yourself.
