Frequently asked questions

How and how quickly will my order arrive?
We ship to parcel lockers or by courier across Europe, as well as to the USA, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. Every product in the shop is sent out within 2 to 7 working days. For custom orders we agree on the delivery time separately.
What materials do we use in our home textiles?
All our home textiles, including the patchwork quilts, are made from natural fabrics: cotton and linen. Natural fabrics are the best choice, because natural fibre breathes, lasts, is biodegradable, insulates naturally and is gentle on the skin.

For the quilt filling we mainly use high-loft polyester wadding, which is considered hypoallergenic. It is light, airy and stands up well to washing. We also use some cotton wadding, but it shrinks a lot in the wash, so customers tend not to prefer it.

In baby quilts we sometimes use cotton terry instead of wadding. As a filling it is thinner, but denser and heavier than wadding. A terry quilt is especially good for a restless child, as its weight calms them and gives the safe feeling of being held.

PS! All sewing here is done in a smoke-free and pet-free home.
How do I choose the size of a patchwork quilt?
• Baby quilts for a pram, cradle, car seat or cuddling are best up to 100 cm long.
• A children's quilt for a cot, for children up to 3 years old, is for example up to 130 cm long.
• A children's quilt for pre-schoolers and younger school children, for example for an extendable bed: choose by the length of the bed, for example up to 160 cm.
• An adult quilt for a single bed: choose by the length of the bed. It is usually at least 140 x 200 cm.
• For a bedspread, measure the length and width of the bed and add at least 30 cm to hang over the edge. Add a little to the length too, so the quilt covers the pillows. A bedspread for a double bed is usually about 240 x 240 cm.
How do I care for a patchwork quilt?
All the patchwork quilts in our shop are carefully quilted and therefore machine washable.

Wash the quilt on the wool programme: a gentle wash and a light spin. A washing gel is recommended, as it keeps the fabrics soft even after many washes. You can also use fabric softener or laundry vinegar. When washing very colourful quilts, add a colour catcher sheet to the machine.

Dry the quilt hanging. Patchwork quilts must not be ironed or tumble dried.
How do I measure a baby doll?
Lay the baby doll flat on a ruler. You do not need to follow the curves under the back or around the knees if the legs are bent. Measure the doll in a straight line from head to toe. Baby doll clothes are cut loose and long enough to fit the bent arms and legs.
Why do the doll clothes have different fastenings?
Playing with dolls develops both creativity and empathy in children. We have deliberately given the doll clothes many different fastenings: zips, Velcro, buttons, press studs and ties. Handling the tiny clothes and their different fastenings develops a child's fine motor skills: hand and eye coordination and the agility and precision of finger movements. Fine motor skills matter for a child's perception, attention, memory, thinking and speech, and for learning to read.
What determines the price of a patchwork quilt?
• The size of the quilt: every quilt lists its measurements.
• The complexity of the pattern and the size of the blocks: a pattern sewn from large squares is the simplest, while an intricate pattern combined from smaller squares or tiny pieces takes many times longer.
• How dense and intricate the quilting is: when buying a patchwork quilt, pay special attention to whether and how densely it is quilted. Quilting holds the layers together and makes the quilt durable in use and in the wash. Every good patchwork quilt should be quilted at least along its squares. Dense quilting that covers the whole quilt in an intricate pattern gives an especially beautiful, and also time-consuming, background. The smaller the pieces in the pattern, the denser the quilting should be. With the quilts in our shop you can safely trust their makers' experience in the quality of both the seams and the quilting.
• The quality of the fabrics and the filling.
