I recently happened to see a documentary about the industrial materials used to create the conveniences typical of modern life, with the help of the chemical, oil and radioactive materials industries.
Watch and wonder. As a rule, first comes the new product, raw material or chemical compound, then mass production and consumption, followed by illnesses, deaths and deformities. And only then research (if any) into the chemical compounds used in that particular product or technology and their effect on the body and the environment.
The more striking examples were products made of asbestos, the new and interesting raw material of its day, and all the things that could be made from it. Drinking water tanks, for instance. Strange illnesses in the factories: young men in their prime fell ill with lung cancer one after another and died. And then among the population...
Footage of how the hands of alarm clocks were painted to glow with paints containing radon. Young women sat in a row, brushes in hand, painting the hands green. When the brush went out of shape, it went into the mouth to be wetted and the painting carried on with renewed vigour. Strangely enough, those women began to fall ill (with lung cancer) and to die. Yet they licked the brush because radon was said to be stimulating and toning. 🙂
A small Google search about radon today gave, alongside plenty of building advice, this interesting summary on the Miksike site: Radon is useful for its radioactivity (in small quantities, because in large quantities it is highly poisonous). Radon is used in medicine to treat cancer, but also in chemical research.
The use of electricity and the mass accidents that came with it, because there was no knowledge at all about safety.
Chemistry in women's hair care and the mass baldness that came with it (from permanent waves and the like).
Or plastic, and all the things made from it today. There is an interesting article about it, Plastic dependency poisons the body and the planet. I will not comment on that subject at length myself. The picture alongside that article speaks for itself.
This subject is endless, like humanity's discoveries. But to carry it on:

What is today's new trend, raised to the status of a deity by a humanity that values science and progress: GMO (genetically modified organism). Saviour of the world and liberator from hunger.
Newer research on GMO shows, though, that eating genetically modified food in turn affects our own genes.
This article, for instance: Why avoid genetically modified food.
GMO free feed for hens, quail, rabbits and goats:
Konkrit-Agro OU
They run feed rounds across Estonia and are making arrangements to sell this feed at various feed points. There is a group on Facebook: Sale of GMO free feed.
