I am so pleased. I have finished another enormous piece. Such a pleasant, light feeling, as if I had passed another creative examination. Four weeks passed as if in a dream, a mental dream in which my senses were occupied night and day with the theme of the green footprint and the fate of Mother Earth, and with images of setting those symbols into fabric.
This piece is called THE JOURNEY, A GREEN FOOTPRINT.
On the rug, animals and a human being walk around our dear green planet as one whole, equal to one another and belonging together. Like a dream of a beautiful future. A plea for people to remain one whole with nature, to walk in step with what surrounds us. The pines symbolise plants and greenery in general, and at the same time the nursery among the pines where this piece is going.
The work is created from textiles left over from large scale production, from furniture industry fabrics. Rescued from the jaws of waste disposal and given a new life, that is an upcycled or zero waste product.
