Song festival 2014. TuleTulemine in Suurupi and our flame quilt.

From 15 June to 4 July 2014, the TuleTulemine event "From village to village, from hand to hand" included, among others, the associations, societies, choirs, dance groups and orchestra of my home parish, carrying the festival flame to the festival city by bicycle relay.

The TuleTulemine celebrations of Harku parish took place in Kumna, Vaana and Suurupi, and the Suurupi event was the high point of the celebrations in the parish.
It was tremendous to see all those groups together and performing once again. All our singing and dancing children, the women, the men, the orchestra. Almost all of them also made it successfully through the tight gauntlet of qualifying for the song and dance festival, and we will see and hear them performing again at the great festival.

The flame quilt is a team effort. The design is by Helle Kares and the base of the work was sewn by me. You can read more about it in my blog post about the TuleTulemine wall hanging.

Here are a few pictures as well.
The choice of pictures is rather chaotic, but I left covering the event to the professionals. I simply took a few shots of the performers and the beautiful surroundings. When the flame arrived I enjoyed the mood and put my little box camera away in my pocket. 🙂
