Greetings to the poultry fans.
I promised to add a notice to the blog when the chick season begins in my bird house. The first callers and writers were already in touch in February and have waited patiently for this post.
I have now brought a new Marans rooster to keep my Marans company, and a Lavender Araucana rooster for the crosses. The sun is out and spring is here, and I declare my bird house's chick season open. 🙂

1. Black Copper Marans.
Marans chicks will be on sale in small numbers from the hatching at the end of May.
Marans hatching eggs and chicks are no longer for sale this year.
Crosses:
2. Blue and green egg layers are the offspring of Black Copper Marans and Lavender Araucana crosses. Blue and green eggs in very different tones. There are some brown eggs among them too, from which olive green egg layers will also come.
The chicks themselves have either lavender or black plumage, with tufted heads. The present brown crosses also have a share of Brahma blood and have feathered legs. They are all very beautiful and sweet birds.
Hatching eggs are no longer for sale.

3. Pale blue egg layers, the speckled chicks. As chicks they are yellow with little black speckles. Grown up they are white birds with small black patches. They are the offspring of white laying hens and the Lavender Araucana rooster. They will lay pale blue eggs. The eggs are the size typical of an Araucana. But they lay very diligently compared with the Marans and Araucana crosses.
Unsexed chicks, up to a week old.
Hatching eggs are no longer for sale.

The next and this year's last hatching is on 12 July.
I am taking reservations for chicks, unsexed.
Birds that lay pale blue and olive green eggs in various tones.

Hatching eggs
Fertility this time was as high as 100%: in one incubation all the pale blue and white eggs. With the Marans the result was a little poorer 🙂
