The patchwork room. Pencil cases for a nursery.

Picture

Finished. Yes. I am so pleased.

All summer I wrestled with products that should have been finished in a couple of weeks. In between, when it got too much, I took on sewing the nursery aprons, or mended my daughter's saddle pad, or sewed new seat covers for my son's vintage car, or made a few other small pieces or presents to settle my creative mind.

Now, after a long time, at last one big, urgent job finished right on time, and even early. 🙂
The order is the pencil cases mentioned in the previous Patchwork room post.

For the fabric I chose linens in various tones: natural linen, pale blue, blue striped, pink striped and grey checked. Also khaki coloured cotton, denim and other fabrics. For decoration I used decorative ribbons with woven patterns, cotton and linen laces and coloured buttons. For the lining and the binding of the fastening, lining silk in various tones: white, cream, dark blue, bright red.
The cases with decorative ribbon were finished with lace. The cases where I used strips of fabric in different colours together with lace, I decorated with coloured buttons.

All 40 pencil cases finished today are different from one another.

This time, out of interest, I also kept a record of the working hours. That is, every time I sat down to work I noted the time. I also subtracted the breaks. It will be easier to plan the time an order takes in future.

Here are some pictures of the pencil cases being made, with short comments. Photographs of the finished work will go on the portfolio page "Various sewing work" in a week, once the teachers have received their presents.

I would like to sew something similar for the nursery leavers in the spring. If you are interested, let me know in good time.

Tomorrow I carry on diligently with the beanbags ordered for the primary school's quiet room.
