Let me share my joy with you: today a quilt was bought from my Etsy shop by someone in the land of quilts, the USA.
Over the year my tiny shop has probably had at most 8 pieces listed at any one time. Supposedly there should be at least twenty odd pieces just to be visible at all among the millions of items there.
People here at home have been buying my work directly, one piece after another, that is without Etsy in between, and I was planning to close my Etsy shop altogether. Most recently I did not even renew the listing fees for the products, and some of them expired, that is they came off the sales page. Only 2 pieces were left, a small baby quilt and the "Farmer's quilt" in adult size. And now the large one has been bought.
USA patchwork is generally considered beyond competition next to our small Estonia, because quilts and patchwork as a craft are very popular there and full of tradition, and the makers number not merely in the thousands but quite probably many times more. On Etsy alone some 900 USA crafters sell patchwork.
And now this good fortune has fallen into my yard, that my work was bought from far away in the land of patchwork enthusiasts.
As a reminder, my patchwork wall hanging "Sun" won the August work competition of a team of USA quilters this year. That team has 860 members and is one of many teams created within the Etsy craft marketplace.
The competition page is here and a picture of the work is below:
