The patchwork room. A few more sewing projects with my granddaughter.

The soft, comfortable skirt with butterflies, flowers and lace made a certain young lady so happy that the same fabric simply had to come out again for a few more sewing projects.
Her greatest wish was for leggings, both long and short. We took the pattern from the prettiest leggings in her bag. We drew the pattern. The little lady cut the pattern out herself and explained all the while exactly how and what these leggings had to be like. There was nothing for me to work out on my own. The length of the leg was not allowed to differ by a centimetre from what the client had said. Choosing the colour of the lace was a very thorough business. Of course I did not have lace in exactly the right colour and width to hand.

By way of an aside, both grandmother herself and the little lady are Virgos. Sometimes our exchanges turn out quite comical. In my studio, for instance, every tool is in a very precise place, by a fixed system, so that any tool can be grabbed backhanded or blindfolded. And then the little lady comes along and starts rearranging the pins in my pot the other way round, because THAT IS HOW IT MUST BE. :-)))) And then we argue a little about which way round the pins should lie in the pot.
While I cut fabric, she resorts my button box and puts the tools on the shelf in their RIGHT places. Look at that child and see your own reflection :-))))

Coming back to sewing the leggings, though: she could not help much with that. Sewing stretch fabric, including the overlocked seams, sewing in elastic and so on, is a bit too tough a nut for a beginner.
But we learned how to thread the machine, and measured the leg lengths, the elastics, the lace and so on together.

The result is, I think, very fine. The little lady was very pleased too. We took pictures of the leggings and of the skirt sewn yesterday.
