Today's commission is themed beanbags, that is beanbags to be used as teaching aids, for two nurseries.
Themes: colours, shapes, bigger and smaller. (Little mood balls will come as extras.)
I sew the beanbags from denim, filled with beanbag granules. The coloured shapes I sew on in coloured fleece. A set of the same size of separately sewn coloured shapes comes with them, matching the ones on the beanbag. The child can pick those up and find the matching one.
Two questions for today's nursery teachers.
Since my own work and experience in a nursery is far in the past, I am asking your opinion:
1) How would it be better, in your view, to arrange the shapes?
* Picture 1: completely at random, the child looks for the wanted colours, sizes and shapes across the whole surface
* Picture 2: as sets, the child sees sets made up of shapes (some sets also include a shape that does not belong) and finds the wanted shape and colour by making connections.
2) How necessary, in your judgement, is it to be able to attach the loose shapes to the shapes on the beanbag?
Unfortunately hook and loop tape cannot be sewn onto a beanbag, as it ruins children's clothes. A shape with snap fasteners cannot be fixed by a child's hand on a soft surface. A magnet, my latest idea for attaching the shapes, turned out to be unsuccessful, because a magnet does not grip well enough through two layers of fleece fabric.
Please comment right here in the comment box, not on Facebook. That way I get a better overview. In the window that opens you need fill in nothing but something in the name box and your comment. Feel free to leave the other boxes empty.
Thank you to everyone who helps.
