Black and white, with a little red too

I am so pleased. Every time a new and lovely piece is finished, it feels as if this time's joy is the greatest yet 🙂
Honestly. And here it is: a play quilt from fabrics in black and white tones, larger than usual at 155x155 cm. Softer than usual with its two layers of wadding. Plus a tiny cuddle quilt with cars.

Where is the red, you ask... I hid it under the quilt. Small red hearts, warmth of the soul for the little one who will learn to crawl and play here (cotton fabric, pre washed).

The quilt is just thick enough and soft. For the quilting I used, instead of a straight seam, a three step zigzag this time, which looks like the wadded quilts grandmothers made long ago.

I added a small present of my own to go with the quilt: a cuddle quilt. That too is of black and white squares, but it has a couple of coloured cars on it, a small aeroplane and a helicopter, and coloured ribbons at the edges. The back is pale green flannel with cats (pre washed).

And it is ready to set off to its new home.
