In October we sold our beautiful Brahma rooster to Vandra, where 20 young Brahma hens were waiting for him.
From Kurtna we brought home a young Lavender Araucana cockerel instead (picture on the right). He is still a rather fragile little thing, but he has time to grow.

In November we brought home a second cockerel as well, a young (3 month old) Copper Black Marans. A beautiful little bird with a very good temperament. His previous family named him Papi.
A funny egg

Araucanas otherwise lay a fairly consistent pale blue egg. So do my two crosses, the brown one and the grey one with the big comb, even though they look nothing like an Araucana hen. And crosses generally do not lay pale blue eggs but greenish ones. Yet my three birds, only 1 of them purebred, all lay pale blue eggs so alike that I cannot tell them apart.
One day, though, there was a rather funny egg in the nest. As if the colour cartridge had run out and been swapped for a new one halfway through the laying.
