A wall hanging with pockets for the teddy bears

Picture

A wall hanging for the teddy bears at a nursery.
It is part of a bullying free upbringing programme. The whole group has identical small purple teddy bears, and the teacher has her own, a little larger. And the 20+1 bears of one small group at one small nursery needed a pleasant and splendid place to rest between their conversations and keep an eye on what the children are doing.

The nursery teachers could tell you about the project itself in the comments. I have not quite understood it yet: why should the bears not each have a character and a face of their own? Why identical after all. And a few other questions.
But the wall hanging itself was finished today and I am hanging it up here for you to look at as well.

In fact this work was quite a machine breaker. Quilting a single flower, the thread snapped at least 5 times. Quite a few needles went too, even though they were special denim needles. That is also why I could not sew on any more appliques. Wherever there is a join between the pockets and another little flower might go, there is also a crossing of seams and quilting, and a place far too thick to attack with a machine.

Next week I can take a picture of the hanging with the teddy bears. I will put those pictures on the portfolio page.

Into the pockets today I put the toys that came to hand. Usually there are so many toys that the whole house seems full of them. But look, now I could not find more than these few to stuff into the pockets.

Pooh's friend Tigger crept into the pocket made for the teacher's teddy bear. He certainly liked it there and did not want to come out again. Before bed Mathias went looking for his cuddly tiger, while Tigger sat quietly in the pocket and did not think to give himself away 🙂

The ladybirds and bees are of felt and should stand up to every curious little finger.

The teddy bears came to visit and happily took their blanket with them 🙂 But first I managed to take pictures of the hanging with its pockets and the bears.
