I bought myself a small present for my birthday.
I have long wanted to buy an old doll from a charity shop and help it to a new life. Today, in the Humana shop in the city centre, I met a doll who spoke to me at once. She said she is a very old doll and was once her owner's favourite. But in some strange and inexplicable way she lost her home. And now she sits moping in that plywood box in the middle of the shop, next to broken model cars, matted animals, a few Barbies and a handful of figures from chocolate eggs.
I picked her up and looked at her. She had beautiful blue eyes, ash blonde hair, tiny pale hands and feet and a sad look. She said her name is Emma. Emma had a pretty pale blue dress, long white linen trousers with little bits of lace, and flowers and ribbons in her plaits. I paid 1.50 euros for her and took her with me.
I put her on the seat beside me in the car and at once had the feeling that somebody was next to me. Not simply a doll but SOMEBODY beside me. It was a very eerie feeling. I stroked the doll and tried to get past that feeling. Later at home too I felt that this doll has very strong energy. All the time I had the feeling that there was a living being next to me. Very strange... In the evening I put her on the pouffe in the bedroom and at first I could not fall asleep. I simply could not get past the feeling that this doll is not a WHAT but a WHO. I picked her up again and tried to get over it with positive thoughts. The next day everything seemed calmer. A doll like any doll. At some moments I felt that the doll is still alive, but far calmer and more positive. Perhaps I simply have too lively an imagination, or perhaps some prejudice arose in me at finding such a special doll in a second hand shop. That there must be something wrong with her, if such a pretty and entirely undamaged doll is thrown away like that...
I will put her right, sew her a few pretty new dresses. Wash her hair and arrange it nicely. We shall see what happens next.
What do you think about old toys and their energy?
When using reclaimed fabrics, especially when sewing memory quilts, I neutralise the materials: first I wash all the clothes and fabrics myself and dry them outdoors in sunny weather. When I start sewing I light white candles until I feel that the foreign influences are gone. Clothes of someone who has died I use only for sewing for that particular client.
But how should one deal with old objects? Can toys carry negative energy? So negative that an ordinary person can feel it. And if so, how could it be neutralised?
No answers or comments to those questions arrived here, but a certain wonderful Facebook page was very active on the subject (a group of fortune tellers, readers of signs and the like). The views were quite contradictory; here are some of the more interesting ones:
* eerie; I would get rid of a character like that; The eyes are eerie; ...that doll is not pretty at all, there are hardly any eyes...; The doll is eerie... I would throw it out of my home;
* The eyes are eerie at the moment, certainly. I believe that with another dress for the doll and a little tenderness, something can be made of her.
* Energy does accumulate, she does look a bit sad... I, a reader of signs, see an actual cross... The previous owner's energy; now make her your own. Something can certainly be made of her. That doll caught your attention in the second hand pile and your mind set about putting her right, so the doll wanted to come with you.
* From when I was small I have always known that they have a soul in them;
* A matter of taste, of course, but I like her and I even like the eyes; they do not seem eerie to me.
* That doll was made for someone to create very bad feelings. You do not need it; take it away from your home. It brings only bad experiences, it is a wordless doll.
* Listen to your inner feeling. It does not lie.
* There is nothing wrong with that doll. It is the colour of the eyes that makes people feel uneasy.
* My grandmother has an old doll with empty holes where the eyes should be. Maybe 40 years old or more. Oh, as a child I was afraid of that doll, but it does nothing.
* I have a finger puppet that looks just like a voodoo doll, but in fact my partner made it in a craft lesson in about year 4. It now keeps watch in a flowerpot in the bedroom. I would not pick a fight with it 😛
* That is a very sweet doll. Very beautiful, soft, sweet features. It is simply that if this doll has a soul, then at that moment the little soul was hurt and frightened to be in such a place at all. But now she will find peace too, because she sees she has come home. And she will be with you for a long, long time.
* The question was actually about the energy of an old toy. The doll suits Mailis. Anyone it does not suit will not buy it.
Mailis will make the doll her own. In just the same way, reclaimed things do not suit many of us at all. They suit me, for instance; I make a thing my own.
* I had an old fashioned doll too, given to my child by her great grandmother; its eyes moved and it otherwise looked like an infant old enough to sit up. I eventually got rid of that doll, because all the time I had the feeling that it was watching me... I gave the doll away. Then I felt much better.
* I do not really like dolls otherwise, especially the Soviet era ones; as a child I always turned their heads the other way for the night 😀 Yet I bought myself a porcelain doll at the Venice carnival and that one really does lift the mood.
* If you make a thing your own, then your information goes onto it; it depends what you want to store. It depends how much you work with it. In the photograph it was still quite a raw thing, an abandoned thing. By the way, things can be made such that all the weaker ones run away when they see them. That is not negative; it is simply how that thing is tuned. Much used in protective magic. But magic like that affects precisely those people who want to believe and who allow themselves to be influenced. Of course information can be manipulated, which assumes that the one doing it knows what they are doing. ... A person who is in tune with nature senses it and knows how to use it. But if you pet and arrange a thing a little, it will undoubtedly become a charmer :)) For instance, when somebody comes to visit, most people will subconsciously start coveting and wanting it, even if they said beforehand, ugh, throw it away :))) The thing is filled with energy then. Energy and information are different concepts. It is a kind of empowering.
