Lapivaip Päikeseratas lasteaiale. Näidisena pildil oleva lapivaiba läbimõõt on 3 m ning see on õmmeldud ühe rannaäärse küla lasteaiale. Lapitöö tellija märksõna nr 1 on kaheksakand. Kaheksakand ehk kaheksa tipuga rist, valgust kiirgav rist, on Euroopas laialt tuntud maagilise õnnetoova märgina, armastuse ja viljakuse sümbolina. Omalt poolt lisasin lasteaia asukohta silmas pidades mere ja lestakalad, silmapiiril mööduva praamlaeva, mereranna palli mängivate lastega, jändrikud männid ja megasuure päikeseketta. Kuna tegemist on vaibaga, püüdsin vältida suuri heledaid pindasid. Ka päikese taust on seetõttu pigem pilvine ning metsaalune rõõmsalt lillekirju. Materjali kulu on kokku umbes 26 m - aluskangas, selle peale õmmeldud taustakangas ja aplikatsioonid, vatiin ja vooder. Kogu see suur lapivaip on tepitud tihetepingus. Teppimismasinat mul pole, kõik on vabakäe tehnikas tepitud. See tähendab, et masinal lülitan altsöödu välja (sakid, mis kangast lükkavad) ning peopesad töö peal, liigutan tööd nõela all, et "joonistada" kangale kontuurid ja mustrid. Frequently asked questions
How and how quickly will my order arrive?
We ship orders to a parcel machine or by courier across Europe. All products in the shop are dispatched within 2–7 business days. For special orders we agree the delivery time separately.
Can I return or exchange a product?
Yes, products bought from the online shop have a 14-day right of return from the date you receive them. The item must be unused and in its original condition. Items made specially to order cannot be returned.
How do I care for woolen and linen products?
We recommend washing woolen and linen handmade products by hand in lukewarm water with a gentle detergent, and drying them laid flat. Avoid hard wringing, heat and the tumble dryer so the item keeps its shape and colour.
Do you make custom orders?
Yes, we're happy to make products to order — for example in the colour, size or with the embroidery you want. Get in touch and we'll talk through your wishes.

In my work I place great emphasis on quality and sustainability. I mainly sew handmade products for the home, office, kindergarten, school and as gift bags, using leftovers from large-scale production and materials sourced from second-hand shops (upcycled/zero-waste).
Mailis Design products have supported various youth sports and cultural events, scouts and the local village society, Tallinn Zoo, children with cancer, homeless animals, large families and more.
